Carol Swain: Schools Aren’t Schools Anymore – They’re Activist Training Grounds

By Corinne Murdock

Laura Ingraham invited Dr. Carol Swain on The Ingraham Angle to discuss social justice as the new priority for public education, and its impacts on social behaviors today.

Ingraham attributed the current onslaught of protestors and rioters to schools playing out “social justice warrior games.”

Swain explained that it’s because political players have reshaped K-12 schools into activist training grounds for their gain. She added that these efforts first began in the universities.

“[W]hat’s really troubling is that the Biden Administration want[s] to fund history and activism so that young people in the K-12 category would become activists,” said Swain. “[S]o instead of learning civics about their nation – how to be a good citizen, how to be patriotic – they are being taught how to disrupt. They’re not being taught to respect the rule of law, the institutions, the civilizing agencies that we’ve had in this nation. They are just being taught to disrupt.”

Swain emphasized that modern schooling isn’t education at all – it’s more of an indoctrination. That’s because opposing views aren’t presented to students.

“They’re not being taught at all. They’re being indoctrinated, because when you teach someone you expose them to opposing views,” asserted Swain.

Ingraham referenced activist groups such as “Principals for Good Trouble,” a coalition of educators who traveled to the Derek Chauvin trial in Minneapolis. They reportedly teach students about the Chauvin trial and their role within the activist community.

“Carol, these educators – they’re literally just agitators at this point,” said Ingraham.

The education coalition outside the Chauvin trial is nothing new. Swain explained that Black Lives Matter has taken children on “field trips” to protests over the years – oftentimes without parental consent.

“[E]ducation is not taking place in America. [M]any of our most elite colleges and universities – they’re only centers of indoctrination and the wild ideas that they are pushing – they’re taking it now to the K-12,” stated Swain.

Swain said it was important that not only do parents push back against this indoctrination, but that the entire community take responsibility.

“[W]hen it comes to critical race theory, we all have a stake in ending racism,” said Swain. “It is a racist theory, and I think that racial and ethnic minorities need to join hands with white Americans the same way we joined hands during the Civil Rights Movement to push back and end what’s taking place.”

Apparently, communities are starting to become aware of the content of their childrens’ education. Ingraham shared that parents from Langley High School in Virginia reached out just recently.

Swain said that the instructional materials implemented by diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings would shock people. She added that many of these materials would likely violate the Equal Protection Clause.

“It’s not a partisan issue. It’s not something that really divides Democrats and Republicans,” said Swain. “People who love their children, who love America’s children – we need to stand up. No child should be shamed or bullied or intimidated in the classroom.”
