I recently had the opportunity to join The Matt Gaetz Show for an important discussion on the state of education in America. We covered a range of critical topics, including the need to teach American history through primary documents, the failures of modern teacher education programs, and the role of teacher tenure in protecting academic freedom.
Teaching Real American History
Education should empower students to understand the past as it was, not as some wish to rewrite it. By reading primary documents, students can see history through the eyes of those who lived it—understanding their struggles, triumphs, and how our nation has developed over time. In states where education still matters, we must ensure that real history is taught, not ideological revisions.
The Problem with Teacher Education Programs
For too long, teacher education programs have been off track, failing to prepare educators to teach critical thinking and real history. Instead, many programs push politicized agendas, leaving students without the fundamental skills they need to succeed. Accountability is key, and we must demand that teachers focus on education, not indoctrination.
Why Teacher Tenure Matters
Few presidents have had the courage to challenge the education system—except for Donald Trump. Tenure has its flaws, but without it, I know they would have forced me out long before my time. While tenure can provide necessary protections, it should never be used to shield incompetence or ideological bias. Teachers must be held accountable for delivering quality, unbiased education.
This conversation is one that every American should hear. Watch my full discussion on The Matt Gaetz Show and join me in the fight for real education reform.
