HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — In the past few years, Tennessee lawmakers approved legislation banning some curriculum in classrooms. In an effort to keep what they call “prohibited concepts”, from being taught in your child’s school. But whose job is it to spot these ideas in a school’s curriculum?
One Hamilton County school board member is attending training to do just that, but the group leading that training says they’ve been accused of leaning conservative. Hamilton County District 8 school board member, Larry Grohn as a former history teacher, chose to attend a Unity Training Solutions class on Prohibited Concepts in Tennessee Curriculum. It’s taught by Carol Swain, a former Political Science Professor at Vanderbilt.
